    prince was his mothers surname .

  7. The Half-Blood Prince was Severus Snape, the one who teaches Potions at Hogwarts and is often described to be like a ‘greasy,old bat’.
    He gave himself this name considering the fact that he was a half-blood as his father Tobias Snape was a muggle and his mother Eileen Prince, a witch. He takes the reference ‘Prince’ from his mother’s surname.

  9. Snape. His mom was also a witch. Her name was Eileen Prince. Snape’s dad was a muggle so that made him half blood. :-)
