How do you feel about the Where the Wild Things Are Movie?

People who saw some footage of the children’s book adaption say it is too scary for kids? What do you think? And the main character isn’t likable they say. What do you think?
There are a lot of movies based on children’s books this year. It’s becoming a movie trend. it takes the surprise element away from the movie when you have read the book and that’s a shame.

  1. The character looks likeable enough. Regardless, I am *very* excited to see this movie. That was one of my favorite books as a kid, and I bet the movie will be just as good. =)

  2. I can’t wait to take my kids to it. The little boy is likable, but he’s a real little boy. He goes around causing all kinds of trouble and goes away to where the wild things are so he kind really be a monster (wild thing). Then he comes back down to earth. That’s why the book is a classic. It’s the journey all kids have to go through before they come out of a temper tantrum (and the temper tantrum stage).
As far as being to scary for kids, I don’t see it. The monsters don’t do anything scary. They may look it, but they aren’t scary.
