I don’t doubt that the government researched psychic abilities at least for a little while at one point, but the commercials and trailers sort of suggest that they had results that can be applied to real life. That’s what sort of makes me believe that it wasn’t based on a true story.

nope
I think to a certain extent it’s true, but they usually edit out some scenes in commercials to make it more interesting for the viewers. I saw the same commercial and I don’t really believe that he actually tipped over a goat using telekinesis, I think you would have to see the movie to know what was really going on.
It is true in a way. The government has researched psychic abilities to be applied in warfare and terrorist attacks, stuff like that, but they dramatize the effect as if it really happened that way though it cant be proven because theres no hard evidence to show it happened so its up to you on whether or not you believe it went down like that, with real results
The real life author was on the Daily Show. His book is based upon real research by the military in trying to use telepathy to kill, and goats were their test subjects. According to the author one goat did drop dead during the trials but the tests to the cause were inconclusive.
