New Japanese movie - Tokyo Sonata

Ginjen wrote:

Set in modern Tokyo, TOKYO SONATA is a chronicle of an average Japanese family of 4. The father, Ryuhei Sasaki, similar to any other Japanese businessman, is reliably committed to his work. His wife, Megumi, left on her own to care the household, struggles to hold a bond with her oldest boy in college, Takashi, and the littlest, Kenji, a tender son in grammar school. From the outside the household is apparently standard, save for the small splits that live inside.

The restrained untangling of the family starts out when Ryuhei loses his occupation out of the blue. Confronting entirely unknown conditions, he chooses not to tell his family and commences his lonesome visit into the world of the secretly jobless. Along with a lot of different businessmen who save face by hiding their dishonorable truth from family and friends, Ryuhei leads off to leave daily for work, while, in fact, he kills time in libraries and parks. His lies and agony go overlooked by Takashi, who gets more and more hopeless and estranged from his family, and Megumi, who can no more summon the will to keep her family together.
