Robert Downey Jr. Roles?

The other day I told my friend that I wanted to see the soloist with RDJ. After I told him what it was about, he was like, Oh, RDJ is finally going to play a serious role. I disagreed with him, but since I haven’t seen many movies with RDJ, I couldn’t really back up my case.
So…what are some serious roles that Robert Downey Jr. has played?

    Try Chaplin. He played Charlie Chaplin and was nominated for best actor by the Academy.

    God, that is all I can think of at the moment. That really pisses my off because I love Robert Downey Jr and I have seen so many of his movies. I just can’t think at the moment. Those are a few serious roles.
